Documenting a Day

  In my week 2 assignment, I used word processor, spreadsheet, presentation and database applications to reflect on  my experience in Kuwait. The word document was like a journal entry that describe the culture, the food, the people and Kuwait's economy. Doing this journal entry in work got me familiarize myself using bullets, changing font, increasing fonts size and so on. Microsoft Word is mainly for documenting information. However, spreadsheets are used mainly to organize information and using formulas to find average, sum, difference and so on. This I used to find the total amount of hours sent on certain tasks I do throughout the day. This would include time spent to work, read books and so on. The difference between both excel and word is that MS word is used to write reports, letters and save documents and excel is used for complex calculations and create tables and charts for those information. 

Working in Excel with formulas was  tricky because you had to know what formulas to use to perform certain tasks - for averages, sum and differences. Excel and Microsoft Word can be used to make presentations  using Power-point. Power-point is a creative way of displaying information on slides. The advantages of Microsoft word  is that it can store vast amounts information that can be easily edited similarly to Excel which can use formulas to make automated tables or charts. Power-point is good for making short and to the point presentations that can be used for briefings or meetings.  The cons with all of these database applications is the functionality many people are still unaware of things that can be done with these software.
